Yearning and Prayer

Yearning and Prayer is the language of devotion. Devotion is your surrendered love offered to God on the altar of your heart.

Take me down to the silent forest at Spirit river’s edge

Guide me through rapids of white water and iridescent pools of blue

Hold my love that it never sinks below the horizon of Your heart

Carry me higher Divine Love that I might see You in dreams painted art.

Divine Warrior have You fought to find me

Did I wound You on the battlefield with my distracted love

Is it You that fired the spear of whispered yearning into my heart

And cried for me to surrender so we are never apart.

Divine Love, bathing my heart in Your favours of tenderness

Cleanses dross of old resentments hiding in the crevices of my soul

Help me to love each brother and sister as I would my own

Strengthen me to make my heart Your home.

The Greatest Romance

“The greatest romance is with the Infinite, You have no idea how beautiful life can be. When you suddenly find God everywhere, when He comes and talks to you and guides you, the romance of divine love has begun.” Paramahansa Yogananda, “Man’s Eternal Quest”

I feel Your love in my inner stillness

Stirring to go deeper, explore further

Each breath imploring me to live as You, and to forget about me

A divine consciousness eternal and free, to make it my own

“Be spiritually adventurous”, do it before your life turns to stone.

When will I know that my heart is Yours – when will You tell

Will you leave me desperate in love, without a sign from above

O tender Heart, Love of all loves, when will You reveal Your treasure

Draw me ever closer but let my search end only at Your pleasure.

Wild is the wind Spirit that blows through the valley of each heart

Soft is the silver blue rain that waters every soul’s longing

Love Divine how long can I ignore You before I fall apart

When will my knee bend knowing You are in my heart?

Talking to Divine Mother

Humble yourself in thought and deed.

Be overwhelmed with happiness as you think, “I am loved.”

Put all your heart into whatever you do, do it for Her.

Intensify the fervour and tenderness of your actions.

Offer Her thoughts, prayers, every breath in meditation, every glance, every step.

Make everything an offering to Divine Mother – even a fallen leaf is an acceptable offering.

Make offerings to Divine Mother all day – bring your mind back to Her.

Laugh with Her, smile to Her, greet Her.

Offer what you’re working on to Her.

Feel love for Her.

Speak to Her.            Srf Monk, Lecture

Nothing left

Divine Love are You there in my insignificant moments

Are You with me when I have nothing to offer

Allow me to rest in the meadow of Your joy

Whisper Your love to me when I have nothing left at all.

Rain of Joy

The fir tree of my life has taken root in Your love

A forest of every hope abides in the thought of You

Rain of joy filters through the leaves of each moment

Life has become sublime on the mountain of Your love.

How to Pray

"The only way to reach God through prayer is by persistence, regularity, and depth of earnestness. Cleanse your mind of all negation, such as fear, worry, anger: then fill it with thoughts of love, service, and joyous expectation. In the sanctum of your heart there must be enshrined one power, one joy, one peace - God." Paramahansa Yogananda, "Where There Is Light"

The kindness of a summer breeze blows gently upon my cheek

Images of love appear on the screen of my heart

My soul smiles knowingly at this familiar place

In my Refuge, in my Love, I have found the truth of Your grace.

Divine Lord,

People walk by and I don’t know why

But each one is You disguised in a form

How do I see, yet not see at all

Help me to realize You live down the hall.

Flowers pink, listing on a gentle breeze of sunlit warmth

Divine love fragrantly wafting across meadows green

Ravens cry asking, “when will you learn, all you have is He”

O when will I accept that You care for me, just as You do for the buzzing bee?

How to Live

"By constantly following the inner voice of conscience, which is the voice of God, you will become a truly moral person, a highly spiritual being, a man of peace." Paramahansa Yogananda, Lecture
